Hydrofluoric acid is a solution of hydrogen fluoride (HF) in water. Hydrofluoric acid has a variety of uses. It can be found in many industries including mining, refining, glass and metal finishing, silicon chip manufacturing and university research labs. It is a colourless solution that is corrosive and highly toxic depending on its concentration and amount of tissue surface exposure.
Hexafluorine® solution is an effective washing solution for cutaneous and ocular splashes of hydrofluoric acid and all acids containing fluoride ions. Hexafluorine® solution is a Health Canada licensed Class 2 Medical Device that cannot be sold online. It is available exclusively in Canada at Levitt-Safety.
The features of Hexafluorine® Solution:
- Provide the important mechanical rinsing effect from the skin or eye tissue surface
- Provide a superior absorption capacity through its chelation effect on the corrosive H+ ions and the toxic F- ions restoring physiological tissue pH and rapidly normalizing the pF levels
- Prevent further absorption of the chemical and reverse the flow back to the tissue surface
