Protectowire Linear Heat Detector
Protectowire Linear Heat Detector is a proprietary cable that detects heat conditions anywhere along its length. The sensor cable is comprised of two steel conductors individually insulated with a heat sensitive polymer. The insulated conductors are twisted together to impose a spring pressure between them, then wrapped with a protective tape and finished with an outer jacket suitable for the environment in which the detector will be installed.
Protectowire is a fixed temperature digital sensor and is therefore capable of initiating an alarm once its rated activation temperature is reached. At the rated temperature, the heat-sensitive polymer insulation yields to the pressure between conductors, permitting them to move into contact with each other, thereby initiating an alarm signal. It is not required that a specific length be heated in order to initiate an alarm, nor is system calibration necessary to compensate for changes in the installed ambient temperature. Protectowire Linear Heat Detector provides the advantages of line coverage with point sensitivity.
Protectowire is a normally open contact device and as such can be interfaced to intelligent fire alarm panels via System Sensor monitor modules: M500MB, M500DM, M501M, and IM-10.
Confirmed Temperature Initiation (CTI)
CTI is a new Digital Linear Heat Detection technology created and patented by The Protectowire Company. This technology is an enhancement to traditional digital linear heat detection technology and enables short circuit discrimination.
CTI confirms thermal activation of the Digital Linear Heat Detector before an alarm is initiated thereby reducing the incidence of false alarms created by physical damage to the detector. Protectowire CTI Digital Linear Heat Detectors are the only digital linear heat detectors to feature Short Circuit Discrimination.
FireSystem 2000 (FS2000)
The FireSystem 2000 is a fully supervised, non-coded fire alarm control panel available in multiple zone configurations. The control panels are modular in design and feature individual controlmodules designed to meet specialized system requirements for commercial, institutional, and light industrial applications. The system is both UL listed and FM approved and conforms to applicable NFPA 72 requirements for local and auxiliary protective signaling systems. It may also be used as part of a proprietary fire alarm system or, when properly configured, is capable of sprinkler supervisory service, water flow alarm, preaction sprinkler or deluge system release.
The basic 2-wire system control panel and its associated power supply provide the following standard features: two (2) supervised detection circuits, that may be field wired for either Class A (Style D) or Class B (Style B); two (2) supervised Class B (Styles W & Y) audible appliance circuits; battery charger and monitor; ground fault detection; lamp test; one (1) set of SPDT common alarm contacts, two (2) sets of Form A or B (selectable) common trouble contacts, and one (1) set of Form A or B (selectable) common supervisory contacts. Common trouble contacts may be programmed for silenceable or non-silenceable operation.
FiberSystem 8000
The Protectowire FiberSystem 8000 has been designed for use as a linear heat detection system using state-of-the-art fiber optic sensing technology. The system consists of Type PFS Fiber Optic Sensor Cable and the PTS Controllers with related software. The PTS Series Controllers can be configured for various alarm criteria and can be connected to an approved fire alarm control panel using relay inputs and outputs. The system is specifically designed for high risk commercial and industrial hazards that demand high reliability and customized system features.
